Melissa Ward – Cinematographer

I graduated from Goldsmith’s College, University of London in 2001 with a BA in Communications and Anthropology. In 2013 I also graduated with a Master of Science in International Development and Water Security. My film making is grounded in both nature and the environment and I aim to capture the very essence of every living thing. I like to use my surroundings and the prerequisite of my subject to create an image that becomes not just a film but a work of art.

I have been film making with the British Film Institute (BFI) on the Southbank of the river Thames since 2007 and I have managed projects for the BFI and the Arts Council. I use cinematography to create films that are fun but professional and artistic but captivating. I like to create a strong story that leaves not just a memory of an event but an imprint into the hearts of the audience. I see the films I make as memories which are there to treasure, forever…
